First meeting of the Global Platform for Business and Biodiversity organized by Secretariat of Convention on Biological Diversity, Ministry of the Environment, Government of Japan, Keidanren Committee on Nature Conservation and IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) took place in Tokyo on 15-16 December 2001 with more than 200 participants from business, government and civil society to discuss about progress made after the COP10 and issues towards the COP11 on business and biodiversity.
