National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs)

Submission of scientific and technical comments on appendices 1 and 2 of SBSTTA recommendation 24/2

In its recommendation 24/2, paragraph 2, SBSTTA requested the Executive Secretary, under the guidance of the SBSTTA Bureau, to compile comments from Parties, other Governments and relevant stakeholders on appendices 1 and 2 of this recommendation, and to facilitate a scientific and technical review, ensuring consultation with Parties, including through the organization of an expert workshop, of the proposed indicators of the monitoring framework for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.

In response to this request regarding the compilation of comments, the Secretariat, with the technical support of UNEP-WCMC, prepared an online survey. Parties, other Governments and relevant organizations were invited to submit their comments on appendices 1 and 2 of SBSTTA recommendation 24/2 using this online survey, which was open from 1 June to 20 June 2022 (notification 2022-034).

This online survey also allowed for comments to be provided on the compilation of available metadata for the proposed headline indicators of the draft monitoring framework available in information document CBD/SBSTTA/24/INF/38, in response to the same recommendation 24/2.

The comments received through this online survey are compiled below and will be made available as information for participants at WG2020-4 and COP-15 (Part II). The compilation will also be made available as information for participants at the expert workshop on the monitoring framework for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, being convened by the Secretariat in Bonn, Germany from 29 June to 1 July 2022, as announced in notification 2022-019.
