“During this side event the CBD-Secretariat will launch a tool box with new training modules for NBSAPs, several sectoral and a cross-sectoral good practice guides for mainstreaming biodiversity into broader development and poverty reduction processes. The guides cover a wide range of fact sheets, tools, case studies, and lessons learned about different development sectors and stakeholders worldwide and address various target groups such as policy-makers, practitioners and the scientific community within and outside the environment community. The tool box contains a series of instruments becoming a multi-sectoral and holistic approach for capacity building on mainstreaming biodiversity and ecosystem services for sustainable development and poverty eradication. As a contribution to support the implementation of the CBD and its Strategic Plan beyond 2010, discussions about institutional arrangements and processes at national, regional and global level on how to organize and catalyze capacity building on mainstreaming in developing countries will follow to the short presentation of the tool box and its purposes.”
