AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS PRODUCED BY THE MEASURES WHICH CONSERVE LOCAL LIVING CREATURES (LIVING CREATURE MARK)

Organizer
MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY AND FISHERIES OF JAPAN

Date and Time
19 October 2010 18:15 - 19:45

Meeting
Tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10)

In 2008, MAFF started to recommend the utilization of a voluntary eco-label called the “living creature mark”. It applies to agriculture, forestry and marine products produced by the measures which conserve local living creatures. (e.g. rice with oriental white stork mark.). These brands may help out the local economies and are welcomed by consumers, who recognize that rice grown in paddies where abundant fish and birds live is also safe and healthy for humans.
