2011-2020 United Nations Biodiversity Decade Launched in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan

Montreal, 19 December 2011 – A future of life in harmony with nature is possible, if the world takes action now. The United Nations Decade on Biodiversity (UNDB) was launched in Kanazawa, Japan, on 17 December 2011, in a ceremony organized by the United Nations University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment of Japan, Ishikawa Prefecture and Kanazawa City, and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).<br><br> The Communiqué is also available in <a href='/doc/press/2011/pr-2011-12-19-undb-launch-jp.doc'><b>Japanese</b></a>.
