Germany marks International Biodiversity Day and World Environment Day
On World Environment Day, 5 June 2003, the German Federal Ministry of Economic Co-operation and Development, the German Agency for Technical Co-operation (GTZ), the popular environment magazine GEO, UNDP and the German development institution Inwent co-hosted an event to mark two international days proclaimed by the United Nations.
The moderated panel discussion on biodiversity and poverty reduction with representatives of developing countries was held in Berlin in the premises of the Federal Press and Information Office.
In the course of the combined event, Germany officially acceded to the Equator Initiative.
