The 34th Annual Meeting of the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77 and China, New York, 28 September 2010
At the thirty-fourth annual meeting of the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77 and China held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on 28 September 2010, the 131 Ministers or representatives welcomed the draft Multi-Year Plan of Action for South-South Cooperation on Biodiversity for Development and highlighted the importance of its adoption by all Parties at the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP-10), held in Nagoya, Japan, in October. The Ministers also welcomed the convening of the First Forum on South-South Cooperation on Biodiversity, held in Nagoya on 17 October 2010, and commended the efforts by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity to establish a strategic partnership with the Group of 77 and China in the field of South-South cooperation.

Multi-year Plan of Action for South-South Cooperation on Biodiversity for Development
Communiqué: The Group of 77 Initiates the Preparation of a Multi-Year Plan of Action for South-South Cooperation on Biodiversity for Development.
On 25 September 2009, at their annual meeting held in New York, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77 and China welcomed COP-9 Decision IX/25 for the elaboration of a Multi-year Plan of Action for South-South Cooperation on Biodiversity for Development to be submitted to COP-10. The Ministers expressed their support to the ongoing work of the Executive Secretary of the CBD Secretariat towards the elaboration of this multi-year plan in close association with the Chair of the Group of 77 and welcomed the convening of consultative preparatory meetings of the Steering Committee, held in Montreal, Canada on 29 October 2009 followed by another in Khartoum, Republic of the Sudan, in early 2010.
