Paying for ecosystem services: Bolivia |
Description |
|
Due to local mismanagement of water in Bolivia’s Los Negros Valley, the Municipality of Pampagrande in collaboration with the US Fish and Wildlife Service began financing payments for upstream ecosystem services in 2004. Payments are made primarily in-kind to participants who agree to avoid cutting trees, hunting, or clearing forest on enrolled land. |
