Description The PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization, founded in 1999 in Europe to promote Sustainable Forest Management through the organization and coordination of certifications extended by independent third parties which are approved by the PEFC Council. The PEFC provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.
