To date, two series of NBSAP regional and sub-regional capacity-building workshops have been organized.
The
first series was organized in 2008 and 2009, in response to
decision VIII/8 (paragraph 6), with the purpose to strengthen national capacity for the development, implementation, review and update of NBSAPs and for mainstreaming biodiversity concerns into relevant sectors and cross-sectoral strategies, such as poverty eradication strategies. The workshops were organized with the generous financial support of a number of donors including Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, Singapore, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United Nations Environment Programme, the Center for Biodiversity of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Central African Forests Commission (COMIFAC).
