Scottish Biodiversity Week, starting with International Biodiversity Day on 22 May, is nine days of events and activities ranging from Nature Reserve open days and guided walks, scrub clearance and moth walks, exhibitions and talks, making bird boxes and animal tracking. Scottish Biodiversity Week (SBW) is for everybody. The myriad of activities run during the week, across the whole of Scotland, are designed to help the public understand what biodiversity is, to encourage the public to get involved, and to reinforce the message that local actions do have a national, international, and global impact. In essence: our future "is in your hands".

Wales
Steve J. Moon, County Borough Ecologist of Bridgend, Wales advises that "in May 2004 I shall be leading a group of wildlife enthusiasts to some of the important nature and forest reserves around Bialystok, Poland, and on 22nd May will be at the River Suprasl looking for River Warblers and Lesser Spotted Eagles. The project is a 'green tourism' partnership with the Suprasl Local and County Authority and has evolved from the 'Porthcawl Friends of Suprasl' group that I am involved in. The Town of Suprasl has recently been granted 'spa' status and have embraced the concept of sustainable development in relation to their new town development plan."
