New Global Biodiversity Agreement: China to Host a Two-Part Summit on Nature

18 August 2021 – Dates have been announced for the UN Biodiversity Conference, which includes the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP-15), to be convened in two parts, the 10th meeting of Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (CP-MOP 10) and the 4th meeting of Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization (NP-MOP 4). For Phase One of the UN Biodiversity Conference in Kunming, China, media will have access to the plenary sessions held on 11 and 15 October, beginning at 15:00 (local time, Kunming, GMT+8)

For the High-Level Segment on 12 and 13 October, media will have access to the two plenaries and the two parallel roundtables. Time to be determined. Click here for more information

Accreditation for Phase One (October 11 to 15):

For media organizations with staff based in China, who may be in a position to physically attend the meeting in Kunming, please send an expression of interest by 17 September 2021 to secretariat@cbd.int with the subject heading: “Kunming Media Accreditation Request”. Please include: name(s) of participating journalists, name of media outlet, as well as the name and contact details of the person in charge of managing the delegate. Please note that due to public health restrictions and limitations of the venue, not all requests can be granted.

Press conferences: Accredited Media can participate in the two press conferences being held on 13 and 15 October. Additional details regarding connection and submission of questions to the panelists are forthcoming.

Attach a scan of a valid press card or letter of assignment on company stationery. If you do not have a press card (e.g. a regular blogger but not a formal media employee), please instead submit a recent sample of your work in a subject area related to the work of the CBD.
