This Act establishes the obligation of sellers and importers of biomass, producers, importers and sellers of liquid or gas products designed for the production of biofuels, producers, importers and sellers of biofuels and importers and sellers of petrol and diesel fuels with a share of biofuels, to issue documents demonstrating compliance with sustainability criteria to individual supplies of biomass, liquid or gas products designed for the production of biofuels or supplies of biofuels. The sustainability criteria can be divided into two basic obligations: the origin of biofuels, which must document that the cultivation of biomass for biofuels production does not affect biodiverse protected areas; and provide GHG emission life cycle assessments of biofuels .
