Global Action Plan on Biodiversity and Health

The Global Action Plan builds on previous work undertaken under the Convention on Biological Diversity, including that conducted in collaboration with the World Health Organization on biodiversity and health interlinkages through a joint work programme from 2012 to 2021. It is intended to complement and support the implementation of earlier decisions of the Conference of the Parties on biodiversity and health (decisions XII/21, XIII/6, 14/4 and 15/29) and to facilitate the realization of biodiversity and health co-benefits from the implementation of the Convention and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The Global Action Plan includes a set of voluntary actions that can be implemented at various levels and on different scales, from international to national and local and from multisectoral to sector-specific, with cross-sectoral collaboration at the governmental level, and that allow for the participation of civil society, indigenous peoples and local communities, women, children, youth, the elderly and people with disabilities, as well as academia and the private and financial sectors, among others.
