Addressing these pressures is critical to reducing the loss of biodiversity and achieving global goals and targets for the ocean. Work under the Convention has focused on improving the understanding of the impacts of various pressures, identifying gaps in knowledge and areas in need of further research, identifying solutions and approaches to minimize and mitigate the impacts of these pressures and identifying means to support implementation. Work under the Convention has addressed various pressures including marine debris, ocean acidification, and underwater noise, for example. This work has focused on synthesizing information on the impacts of these pressures and tools to address these (including through CBD Technical Series reports), and providing this information to inform decisions by the Conference of the Parties on these issues.
