Focus on specific island issues and facilitating knowledge sharing and lessons learnt across Parties and organizations that share common issues and needs and perhaps explore a South South Cooperation type of modality to deliver on the expected outcomes of the POWIB. This could also be further facilitated through the set up of regional and sub-regional POWIB hubs or Reference Centres responsible for coordinating POWIB activities.

For POWIB to be fully effective and successful, it is important to explore innovative ways for a funding mechanism that specifically targets island biodiversity conservation. Perhaps explore options of creating linkages with the Life Web to include a specific focus on island biodiversity or through other funding means.

I think that this is important and this can also be done in collaboration with indigenous peoples and local communities that are organized through the IIFB network that is organized internationally and regionally.

I also agree with this statement but would like to add that direct funding must be made available to Indigenous Peoples and Local communities so that community based programmes and projects can be carried out independently and also in collaboration with Parties.
