Submissions received for the Second Meeting of the Open-ended Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Committee for the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing

Submissions in preparation for ICNP-2

Through notifications 2011-142 and 2011-206, Parties, other Governments, international organizations, indigenous and local communities and relevant stakeholders were invited to submit views and information on the following issues to be discussed at the Second Meeting of the Open-ended Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Committee for the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing (ICNP):

(1) proposed elements of an awareness-raising strategy and awareness-raising activities; (2) Elaboration of guidance for the financial mechanism (Article 25); (3) Elaboration of guidance for resources mobilization for the implementation of the Protocol; and (4) The need for and modalities for a global multi-lateral benefit-sharing mechanism (Article 10).

Submissions on capacity-building

Through notifications 2011-193 and 2011-213, Parties, other Governments, international organizations, indigenous and local communities and relevant stakeholders were also invited to respond to two questionnaires on capacity-building and development for the implementation of the Protocol in order to assist the Secretariat in preparing a synthesis of the views and information for the consideration of the ICNP at its second meeting.

Submissions on compliance

Through notification 2011-135, Parties, other Governments, international organizations, indigenous and local communities and relevant stakeholders were also invited to communicate their views on cooperative procedures and institutional mechanisms to promote compliance with the Nagoya Protocol and to address cases of non-compliance.
