Uzbekistan
On the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity on 22 May 2008 Bioversity International's sub - regional office for Central Asia, in Tashkent, conducted a special workshop demonstrating samples of the country’s species and varieties of crops. The event was jointly organized with the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA) under the umbrella of the so-called Program Facilitation Unit (PFU), Tashkent, together with the Association of Farmers of Uzbekistan, the State Committee for Nature Protection and other research centers that belong to the PFU. It was aired by national TV and radio news channels.
