Nagoya City is the venue of the tenth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP10) to be held in 2010. At Nagoya City, the Commemorative Symposium for the International Day for Biological Diversity was hosted by the COP10 Promotion Committee with support from the Chubu Regional Environmental Office of the Ministry of the Environment of Japan. The symposium was entitled “Businesses and Biodiversity.” Contents of the symposium were:
- A key note speech given by a researcher
- Introduction of the Aichi-Nagoya Vision which was drawn up by the COP10 Promotion Committee
- Panel Discussion entitled “Efforts toward Biodiversity Conservation from the Standpoint of Business Sectors”
Over 200 participants listened attentively to the lectures and the presentations which were wide-ranging from forest conservation to manufacturing.

In addition, at Nagoya Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens, various events including a commemorative lecture meeting and a stamp rally were held through sponsorship by the COP10 Promotion Committee and the Nagoya City Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens. It was organized together with the Higashiyama Park Association.
