In Serres, Greece, the Serres Club for UNESCO celebrated the International Day for Biological Diversity by presenting an exhibition on “Biodiversity and Agriculture at Eleftheria Square.
P.E. PRAXIS, a non-governmental and non- profit-making cultural organisation in Serres, founded in 1995 in order to offer a broad spectrum of cultural activities to the town youth and involve them in cultural issue, celebrated IBD by holding the following events:
- A national photo competition about the biodiversity of Lake Kerkini - An exhibit in the central square in Serres about endangerd birds lost in Kirkini Lake and Chrysaetos, Lutra and Lavandula. All these species belong to the biodiversity of the Prefecture of Serres and people have urged local authorities to take measures for the protection of these species - Coordinator Dimitra Tsakirh and two PRAXIS volunteers, Amir Abdelhalim from Egypt and Cecilia Halldin from Sweden, presented a half hour show on the local radio station Rodon FM and also presented this year's campaign on the Internet. They will also create a video about Kerkini Lake and its biodiversity to be uploaded to You Tube.
