Uganda

The Agency for Environment and Wetlands and the Pro-Biodiversity Conservationists in Uganda are organizing events to celebrate IBD, with the aim of enhancing public awareness on biodiversity and climate change in reference to its social and economic contribution to community livelihoods. A one-week intensive awareness campaign about biodiversity and climate change will take place. This will include an inter-university dialogue on biodiversity and climate change, tree planting, distribution of information, education and communication materials, and essay writing competitions for students in primary and secondary schools on topics related to the theme. In addition, on 22 May, a number of activities aimed at strengthening awareness of this subject will take place, including music, dance and plays performed by school children and community groups, as well as speeches and exhibitions.
