On the occasion of IBD, Mr. Jan Szysko, Polish Minister of the Environment, held a press conference on climate change threats to biodiversity, and the role of biodiversity and soils in the adaptation and mitigation to climate change. The CBD video on biodiversity and climate change was translated into Polish and presented and disseminated during the conference.

The Ministry of the Environment organizes a plastic arts competition for primary school children on the theme of biodiversity and climate change. Children had to prepare their works on one of two issues:

• Impacts of climate change on biodiversity: how will biodiversity look like at the end of the XXI century if we do nothing against climate change?
• Adapting and mitigation activities: what can we do on a global and local scale?

About 100 works were received from various schools all over the country. Young artists showed great sensitivity, creativity and awareness. The best works were rewarded.
