To highlight the importance of biodiversity – also in the city, The National History Museum of Denmark will hold a BioBlitz on 17 May. The purpose of the BioBlitz is to map the biodiversity of a specific area within 24 hours by collecting, studying and validating as many different species as possible. Scientists from different fields of study at the museum (botany, entomology, mammals, birds, algae, fish, reptiles, amphibians etc.), in collaboration with school kids and citizens of Copenhagen, will map the biodiversity of a green park in the heart of the city. The event will be joined by different activities all with the aim of disseminating knowledge, answering questions and to debate why it is important to maintain biodiversity.
