Fundy Discovery Aquarium, St. Andrews

St. Andrews – Visit us and discover the underwater world at the Fundy Discovery Aquarium seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Fundy Discovery Aquarium is dedicated to educating the public about Bay of Fundy species and features two touch tanks, large underwater viewing windows, rare lobsters and daily seal feedings at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Coastal ecosystems and estuaries are very important as they support an abundance of species. From Saturday, May 19 to Tuesday, May 22 the aquarium will be focusing on Marine Biodiversity, this year's theme for the International Day for Biological Diversity (May 22), and will be showcasing special activities, displays and films to increase awareness about the issues concerning marine life.   22 May 2012, International Day for Biological Diversity at MUN Botanical Garden, St. John’s
The Ocean Sciences Centre’s marine public education program (PEP) is visiting MUN Botanical Garden on May 22, 1-3 p.m. and presenting a complimentary, interactive and interpretive activity "Come and Explore the Ocean Creatures". Features of the program will include a touch tank, where visitors can experience a never - ending variety of local marine invertebrates and a Harp seal video presentation. Marine interpreter Danielle Nichols will be on hand to answer questions and explain current research initiatives at MUN’s OSC facility.

Registration is not required. Everyone is welcome.

As part of the Montreal Museums Day, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, in collaboration with McGill University’s Redpath Museum, is holding an exhibit highlighting the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity 2011-2020 and the International Day for Biological Diversity on 27 May. It will contribute to raising awareness about the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety. More info.
