Goals and Objectives |
Overall Goal |

The capacity of, and opportunity for, civil society in southern Africa to effectively contribute to decision-making related to sustainable development in SADC through meaningful public participation in EA is recognized, respected, and enhanced. |
Specific Objectives |

The key project objectives are to ensure that key stakeholder groups in southern Africa have the knowledge skills and information to allow them to successfully engage in the public participation process of an EIA. |

Scope and Activities |
National Level Activities |

The project is focussing on building the capacity of key stakeholder groups in the southern African Region. Howwever, project links are being made to regional organizations such as the African Union and continental development initiatives such as NEPAD. Links are also being developed with ENEP. UNECE, and UNECA. |

Outcomes and Lessons Learned |

At the moment, the project is in a knowledge consolidation phase. For the next 12 months efforts will be focussed on handbook development, case studies, training and web site application |

This will be developed in 2005 when project winds down. |
